Stavros Gasparatos is a Greek composer and sound artist. Apart from his solo projects, he composes music for dance, theatre and cinema, collaborating with directors and artists in Europe and the US.

His music has been performed in all major Greek theatres and concert venues and also in New York, L.A., London, Berlin, Munich, Dusseldorf, Toronto, Kassel, Sofia, Amsterdam, Paris, Napoli, Macao and many other cities.

He has composed music for over 100 productions and he is considered as one of the most important and prolific composers of the new Greek generation. Gasparatos composes minimalist, instrumental and experimental music as well as sight specific sound installations. From 2017 he is the artistic coordinator of the Transmedia Lab of the Athens National Opera. His work include: “Staging” choreographed by M. Hassabi (Sound design – Documenta 14, Kassel), “Recess” choreographed by Jonah Bokaer (BAM – New York), “Expanded Piano” (Solo work at EMPAC Troy N.Y.), Opening ceremony of the New Acropolis Museum in Athens, “Bodies and Structure” choreographed by A. Waierstall (Tanzhaus Dusseldorf), Metamorphoses by Jonah Bokaer (Glass House – New Canaan, NY).

  • 2013 Audience Award for scoring “Saint Joan of the Stockyards” by Bertolt Brecht. Directed by N. Mastorakis
  • 2009 Young Artist Distinction by the union of Greek theatre and music critics.
