Green Was Greener is now the solo project of Thomas Stratakis, who returns two years after the release of their debut “Introspective” with a new album entitled “Love Divine”.
The lyrics of “Love Divine” are inspired from loss, futility, death and Dante’s “Divine Comedy”. Although the creative process did not start with this concept, specific circumstances and personal experiences resulted in a very personal album. Sonically, the twelve tracks explore neo-psychedelia within the context of pop music, without any specific musical influences.
The album was recorded at Thomas Stratakis’ home, except for the drums on the songs “Someday” and “Mirage” and the vocals, which were recorded at Mad Hat Studio and he has played all the instruments with the exception of some acoustic guitars in the songs “Someday”, “No Shape” and “Mirage”, played by Nikos Vogiatzakis. The decision to mainly use synthesizers and minimize guitars, as opposed to the previous album, seems to have created a significantly different sound. Thomas Stratakis produced the album with the help of Nikos Vogiatzakis, aiming to capture the emotional charge of the songs as much as possible, while creating a danceable mood for the listener.
Out on LP and Digital via Inner Ear.
