Given the occasion of the assignment from the ‘Days of Independence” of last year’s International Thessaloniki Film Festival, to write an original score for the Mikio Naruse silent film “Yogoto no youme” (1933) and perform it live during the screening of the film, the duo Your Hand In Mine created an instrumental masterpiece.
Manos Milonakis and George Papadopoulos came up with a more emotional and less “directed” approach, serving the work of the great Japanese cinematographer and maintaining thus their self-contained composing.
With acoustic instruments (piano, mandolin, accordion, guitar and others) dominating, combined with the moderate but inspired use of electronic media, Your Hand In Mine managed to create a work of high lyricism and integral compositions, the arrangement of which might resurrect memories from the work of the great Greek composer Manos Hadjidakis or the French artist Yann Tiersen.
This unique work comes packaged in a special unfolding artwork with a 24-page booklet illustrated by the French artist, Benjamin Nerot.
