BLOOD

Βlood is the second album by the music outfit called s̶i̶s̶t̶e̶r̶. it consists of seven tracks with a total duration of fifty-three minutes. Ιt was recorded at Aux studio and Electricity Sound studio in downtown Athens, with the assistance of sound engineers Kimonas Vlachakis (aux) and Dimitris Staikopoulos (ESS). Mixing and production were handled by Coti K and the band, while the initial production blueprint was developed by Kimonas Vlachakis. The artwork for the vinyl edition of the album was designed by Andriana Tounta. The final product was mastered by Coti K.

Blood was slowly crafted somewhere between Athens and Tunis, and distills the band’s distinctive instru/mental approach — as it was first articulated on their debut album Untrue (2018, underflow records) — into more vertical and at the same time more penetrating compositions.

In a record devoid of words, lyrics, or vocals, language is found elsewhere: between the movement and gliding motion of the instruments, within the gaps or between two sounds rubbing against each other, over and over again. The album employs traditional but potentially unpredictable ingredients; percussion, bass, and electric guitar coalesce into a compact swarm while retaining their own autonomy. They are complemented by the critical incursion of santouri, piano, saxophone, classical guitar, and electronic signals.

Blood is geared towards those who need it without knowing they do. it is an album that has pre-selected its audience — regardless of its size — through the honesty of its anger and its obscure joy. it is meant to become an unpredictable device in the right hands (or ears) and, essentially, to offer whatever small and incidental help it can, when necessary, without — not least — ever being detected. Blood is music that simply happens: less an electric record than an electrified one.
