April Fool’s day is the release date of Monovine’s debut album, entitled “Cliche” and although the album contains strong doses of sarcasm, this is not a farce! From proto-punk to 90s grunge and from childish spontaneity to dirty pop, Monovine are not afraid to play with all those cliches that put reality aside.
Stratos (voice/guitar), Xeno (bass) and Sotiris (drums) originate from the universe like all of us. The universe itself has brought them together so that each of them plays his role. Their name means absolutely nothing, they determine its significance. Emblem of the group is the “Rat Messiah”, the hooded rat wandering and spreading their preaching.
The sound they produce sounds like you and me and their music is aggressive. Raw and hungry, with sweeping guitars and drums that beat mercilessly, they play with contrasts with lyrics that move between search and idleness, creativity and self-destruction, denial and acceptance.
The album’s production is co-signed by Monovine and Last Drive’s Thanos Amorginos, while it was recorded and mixed by Ilias Flammos and Thanos Amorginos.
