15

“15” is Mechanimal’s seventh album and marks a special milestone for Inner Ear, being the label’s 300th release.

“15” is a point somewhere between Vyronas and Glyfada. An anonymous dot on the city map, where the first Mechanimal frequencies once began to vibrate. Taxis pass directly overhead without stopping. Dogs avoid looking in that direction. Beneath broken pavements, layers of asphalt, forgotten trolleybus lines and telephone wires, a hum remained switched on for weeks. Some speak of a cassette of noise poetry found inside an abandoned Mercedes. We remember only the hum. That is where a transmission began that never stopped.

“15” is the point where noise ceases to be noise and reveals what it was hiding underneath. Chaos. Not as destruction, nor as a state, but as that moment when noise stops distracting you and reality appears without a filter.

With their new album, Mechanimal are not simply returning to the sound that gave birth to

them. They are returning to its original pulse and letting it drive the music to the point where the mechanical becomes human, the human becomes electric, and noise becomes chaos.

In their own words: “Most people believe that silence comes after noise. We found chaos. “15” is the distance between the two.”

Out on vinyl LP and digital on 30 October via Inner Ear.
