The duo of Sancho 003 consists of Fotis Siotas (violin, viola, keyboards, vocals) and Kostas Pantelis (electric guitar). Although they are both known for their collaborations with artists like Thanasis Papakonstantinou, Giannis Aggelakas and Sokratis Malamas, the sound of Sancho 003 is completely unique. Three years after the release of their first album (“We Buy Gold”), they return with a new album, which is titled “Muzga”.
Melodies, loops, noise, traveling without luggage. Countless images that the mind creates, trying to decipher the sonic puzzles, while overwhelmed by compositions that go beyond conventional musical forms and make imagination run wild. The experience of “Muzga” feels like a film with a scenario that is constantly changing, depending on the listener.
Strings, electric guitars, pedals, improvisation. 9 tracks without lyrics, their strange names serving as their unique identity. The sense of time is lost and space becomes more and more exotic. Besides, the title “Muzga”, a pun for the word Musica, in the local dialect of Fotis Siotas’ hometown, means something like jungle (bushy area with luxuriant vegetation).
The exciting jungle of “Muzga” grew out of the music of Sancho 003 for two shows of the dance team Sinequanon (“To Lose Lautrec” and “A Still And We left”) during 2010-2011. Then the material was edited and arranged by them and the tracks were recorded live by Titos Kariotakis and Hristos Harbilas at the famous Royal Alzheimer Hall Studio.
“Muzga” is released on cd and vinyl from Inner Ear.
